Unless you know absolutely nothing about the web, this unit is a waste of time and a waste of an elective spot. I deeply regret ever taking this unit. You spend each week covering one topic very shallowly — e.g. one week on JavaScript (that was all there was on client-side scripting), one week on CSS, one week on HTML, one week on what the Internet is, one week on image formats… I think you get the idea. The content was also quite outdated (using `var` in JavaScript and using jQuery). The content in this unit is extremely self-teachable so even if you don’t know anything about the web and want to learn, I would still not take this unit as it barely (if at all) teaches you enough to make a modern full-featured website. There were mandatory 3-hour labs where you got marks from copying and pasting code from a PDF into your own code and uploading it to Moodle (and you had to do this in person rather than at home to get the marks). I will say though that the lecturer is quite nice and friendly.
