To explain the title, the unit's assignments are REALLY ANNOYING. Like assignment 1 deadass had random seeding for their testcases so your score is basically never constant and you can get high marks by luck lmao BUT, the funny thing about this unit is how objective their marking is. So if you meet the criteria for HD mark, thats literally 100/100, never below that. Doesn't mean the criteria is easy to reach, but once you reached you are heavily rewarded (For context this is my best performing unit out of my entire degree mainly because of their over objective marking)

I haven't completed this unit, but wanted to leave a review after an adjustment to the unit structure in 2025 that slightly annoyed me. I initially chose this unit for two reasons: 1. To reinforce my existing knowledge about AI/ML after taking a freeCodeCamp course 2. No final exam (I was keen to finish no later than Week 12/13 this semester and did not want the stress) Once I got to semester two, I realised that they had shifted the unit structure in mid 2025 and introduced a final exam worth 35%. If I remember correctly, this wasn't in the handbook when I chose my units at the beginning of the year (EDIT: confirmed with Wayback Machine). Instead, I've decided to switch to FIT3176 (advanced database design) which has no final exam (but a couple in-sem tests worth less). Feel free to see the review of FIT3176 (it's super chill).
