Practical unit which is well taught by the head lecturer Dwi. Week to week work is quite light and content is fairly straight forward. However, make sure you are up to speed before each assessment. Quite easy to make mistakes and lose easy marks if you are not confident on all parts of content to date. Assessments can be quite tedious at times, group work was also a bit frustrating. Interesting position of too little work for too many group members meant a lot of sitting around waiting for team mates so that you all have your equal contributions to avoid penalties. Attending the lessons while not mandatory is worthwhile, purely because Dwi is such a good teacher. Get many opportunities to ask questions in person.

this unit mark consist of 3 assignment3? i think and you need to do 2 class tests on site which is not really hard you can look up the content only on the ed and moodle. no need for attendance but indeed there is a web for attendance but you can simply ignore it. you will get to know sql and non sql skill and start to download like oracle step by step on the ed which is done in the applied class if you are considering this unit you can absolutely pick this unit. One assignment needs a bit of luck cuz you need to get a carry teammate for that assignment which is a bit messy

I did this unit in summer semester B, which is only 6 weeks long so the content goes twice as fast. I still thought that the unit went really slowly though. We had a group assignment (random groups) which was slightly annoying, and we also had to distribute the number of commits evenly among us. However, I’ve heard that they no longer have group assignments. They also wanted us to upload our Lucidchart entity relationship diagram as a PDF to our Git repository, so if your group members forget how to pull and don’t know how to use Git, you’ll have to deal with merge conflicts :/ The content is pretty simple and is pretty useful to know for software development. Working with Oracle’s SQL Developer Data Modeller for assignments was annoying at times though :/ In-person attendance was only required for 2 quizzes, which were held during the workshop times. I did this unit while working full-time and it was fine.
